G'day Alastair,

I do not know if the following data is relevant or not
but here it is.

I have column in one of my tables that is only populated
with a date when a bill is fully allocated for and therefore
able to be disbursed.

When I was doing lookups based on the value being null or
not for a record set they took a long time.

I installed a computed column in the table (for a variety of
reasons, rather than a view) that returns a result set MUCH
faster than checking the date.

The computed column is:
(IFGT(DateCol,'01/01/1000',1,0))

Good luck.
