Hi Chuck, Sorry I can't really answer you key question about the effectiveness of multiple cpu's, but as Troy says, in general software has to be built to take advantage of this feature.
The question of using RAID5 for your system depends on the activity and the data that would be lost since the last backup of the database. With RAID5 the drives are replicated in a way that one disk failure in a RAID set of four disks can be recovered directly. If a significant quantity of data is collected between backups, and the economic loss from loss of that data, like reinput cost, etc, then you should consider RAID5. A set of four RAID5 drives can be rebuilt if one fails from the three remaining drives. The best and fastest way to implement RAID5 is in a hardware RAID controller for the disk drives, but as you would expect also the most expensive. Hope this helps, Dave Billing Tall Tree Business Solutions ----- Original Message ----- From: Troy Sosamon <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, December 25, 2001 12:10 PM Subject: RE: R:Tango / Windows2000 > > Chuck, > > I have R:Tango running on a dual processor machine, Win 2k server, IIS 5, and > mirrored hard drives. > > Is the second processor worth while? > I really don't know.
