I have used several generations of R:base, and started with the product
because of Application Express. But one "feature" drives me to write
custom files to "browse/edit" tables- can anyone tell me if I'm missing
something in Express?

When the "Browse" action is assigned to a menu item, you are able to
define the columns to display from the driving table but NOT the column
display order- it always seems to default to alphabetical. Nor can I
just get the equivalent of a BROWSE * FROM tblname.

I have a feeling that there should be something like the elusive "@"
parameter that's used to prompt for inputs in an Express WHERE clause,
but I just haven't found a way short of writing the custom code.
Suggestions?

Thanks,
John Ashby
