Jim,
Here are my comments and recommendations:
01. Make sure to apply the latest inline patch-1 for The R:edoubtable
R:BASE 2000 (ver 6.5++), Build:1.850xRT03 for DOS, released on
December 31, 2001.
http://www.rbase.com/65ppupdates
02. Pre-Define all variables with appropriate data types as NULL,
before the WHILE loop.
03. Never define any NEW variable(s) with data types within the WHILE
loop.
04. Never re-define any existing variable(s) with different data type
within the WHILE loop.
05. Always DROP cursor before DECLARing it.
06. Make sure to DROP the cursor after ENDWHILE.
07. Change SET VariableName = ColumnName IN TableName WHERE ...
statements to:
SELECT ColumnName INTO VariableName INDIC indicvar FROM +
Tablename WHERE ...
08. Before using another OUTPUT statement, one after another, always use
OUTP SCREEN first
09. FILLIN command is still supported (no problem)
As a matter of fact, there has been a few bug fixes using FILLIN
command in DOS as well as Windows version of R:BASE 2000 (6.5++)!
I personally don't use FILLIN command. I use cool and enhanced
DIALOG command and/or customized forms to achieve the same task.
You have more control using DIALOG and customized forms.
10. WHERE CURRENT of cursor command is still supported (no problem)
11. Use appropriate printer (.PRD) file
12. Make sure that the appropriate printer is defined in DOS RBASE.CFG
file or use SET PRINTER PrdFileName command.
13. ALWAYS use the updated Syntax
14. Read RBDOS65.TXT, RBDOS65P.TXT, RBD65PP.TXT, RBD65PP1.TXT for more
updates, enhanced commands/syntax, new command and bug-fixes.
Hope that helps!
Very Best Regards,
Razzak.
