Off the wall, but have you checked for a sticky keyboard? Long time since it happened to me, but one too many Colas spilled on a keyboard did it for me some years ago.... It was a notebook, with membranes and all, but the d***ed stuff is sticky, and key when down and did not come up quickly enough...
