Seems I have a lot to learn about sconnect, sattach, sdetach, etc. So.....does anybody know.....
If you want to "connect" to two Rbase databases by attaching tables (both Rbase databases) I believe you first have ... SCONNECT dbname and then SATTACH......etc. Do these commands need to be repeated each time a user attaches to the database? Does is matter if ANSI is set OFF or ON (the older/foreign database has a column called "comment" which is not a good name unless ANSI is set off). Are there any other "SETTINGS" that matter when you are sattaching tables? AND.....most of all, does anybody notice that if you try to append the sattached table to a native table, based on a column value (ie, append patinfo1 to patinfo2 where patnumbr > 1000) the choice of column makes a HUGE difference in how fast the append happens, even if the columns you use are both keyed?! It acts like there is no index if I use a date column, but it works great if I use a REAL column. As Jerry Seinfeld would say.....WHAT'S UP WITH THAT???
