Just recently upgraded to the glorious 6.5++ One problem has been where a customer was scanning documents (or loading pictures) and saving them as a BMP, sometimes as a PDF, and sometimes as a Word Document via OCR. These are all saved in a couple of file folders. Some large bitmaps, after being displayed a number of times, ended up knocking the user out to the desktop. Possible memory leakage problems.
But now, it's just a button on the screen form, pick your file from the popup, and Launch Filename. The user may even decide to change to a different viewer and it's all transparent to RBase. I'm now extending this feature to e-mail and graphs, all from within my Rbase app... what could be nicer. If you are back in the world of 6.1 and earlier, the Launch command alone is certainly worth the upgrade. Thanks Razzak and the RBTI team.
