Bill For on the road access to email (from a notebook), we use IPass www.ipass.com which gives internet access world wide and, amongst other things, allows us to authenticate back to our home ISP SMTP server. It also give us the ability to VPN back to our office very cost effectively.
I believe Gric provide a similar service www.gric.com although we haven't used it. In the past to get round the authentication issues on the road, we have also used the SMTP server that is available as part of IIS on the Win2K notebook.
