I don't know if it will help or hurt this problem, but when I had it on, and 
I disconnected from the database and tried to copy the database to a backup 
directory, guess what, the database was still in use by my machine and I 
could not copy it.  I could copy it after I waited for 30 seconds.

On my 2000 machine, I have the Novell Client 4.80 and in the Advanced 
Settings, my File Caching options are only off and on.
