I learnt pretty quickly to get those turned off BEFORE connecting when we
only had dial-up!!

Just to add to my earlier comment, though, PCA using TCP/IP across the
Internet is fine(ish) but if you are thinking about an ordinary telephone
line then don't - it will take forever.
