J.M.: I confess, I replied before trying your code. I tried it and it works fine. Both file copies worked. Inside the loop and after it. I copied 2 different files.
Is the RBASE.DAT file perhaps in use? After that, settings are often the overlooked culprit. What would affect it? The quote setting or the IDQUOTES? Jim Blackburn Kodiak "J.M.
