By the topic of this email I am requesting Dennis be re-subscribed to the
list. I am also requesting others request the same if they wish to see his
input.

This is not a "popularity" contest nor a vote of confidence in RBTI or
Dennis, it is a sincere desire to see a valuable resource retained.

Response to prior email follows:

> Dear Ken Brown and Bill Cook;
>
> I am not going to waste more time then necessary on this newsgroup
> to discuss issues that NEITHER of you two have any clue about.

What I posted had nothing to do with your personal matters. I do not nbeed
to know the facts of any disputes, as my comments were directed toward
conduct in a professional manner that transcends the particular facts.

<snip personal remarks directed toward Dennis>

Why continue this? It is this precise continuation of a dispute that should
be avoided and taken private. You have nothing to defend, and to begin
defending here certainly will raise a few eyebrows.

I am pleased you have such a policy. Are the capitals particularly
necessary for emphasis?

> My statement about his presence not being benevolent and helpful, AT

No sir, I respectfully disagree. If any issue discussed "clears the air"
and allows the future to move more smoothly, it is a Very Good Thing. The
loss of Dennis as a contributor is a Bad Thing for the R:Base community,
IMO. And "90%" certainly makes things sound very bad, but I doubt the
number is 90%. Even so, occasional housecleaning is not a Bad Thing as
people do get to vent and clear the air of frustrations, etc. Many
companies provide forums for just such a purpose, so it is not an unusual
thing.

I have seen misdirected email many times. Have done it myself a few times.
The content is irrelevent, it is the act of misdirecting an email that is at
issue. *Regardless*, Dennis apologized immediately after he realized it was
misdirected and that should have been sufficient. It is sufficient for me
in my professional capacity. If it were me personally, it might be another
issue, but my personal issues will not creep into the list.

> If Dennis wants to take is ball and go home, that is his choice. Both

I am very interested in this response as you appear to be antagonistic
toward me. I have done nothing to raise such antagonism, or so I thought.
If I have, I apologize as it was not my intent. Please also be aware your
overall "tone" reminds me of a dictatorial "if you don't like it, tough!"
attitude. If I am mistaken in my interpretation, I do not mind being
corrected and welcome same.

I also note that you did not answer my prior questions regarding the list -
is this list owned and controlled by RBTI? (I sure miss Harry Bass ...) Is
the content controlled by RBTI? Must one avoid being "out of favor" at RBTI
to be a member of this list? These are legitimate questions and are in no
way intended to be an insult to you or your company.

Dennis aplogized. He deserves to be reading and posting to this list just
like everyone else and under the same rules and criteria as everyone else.
If such an incident occurs in the future, I don't think anyone would have
objections to his ability to post being removed.

Nobody is telling you how to run a business, nor even hinting at same. Some
suggestions and personal anecdotes have been offered regarding how to handle
problems, etc., but that is hardly telling you how to run your business. Do
you think your response might be a tad over-reacting at this point?

If I find myself un-subscribed from the list due to this exchange I will be
sorely disappointed.

Thank you for the clarification.

> This is NOT a personal issue between Dennis and myself. If you talked

It is personal somewhere, and it can certainly stop right now. The
consistant use of capitals for emphasis in your response lead me to believe
this issue is getting out of hand and some "bad blood" exists somewhere.

I wish him re-instated. As a member of this list I found nothing so
reprehensible in his post and apology that deserves a permanent ban.
Dennis, as a resource to the R:Base community, is important.

Does the list manager have the ability to reinstate him without your
approval? If so, I ask that all member of the list that wish to see Dennis
re-subscribed send an email to the list manager (not the list itself to
avoid cloggint the list), with a copy to Mike and Dennis.

> In closing, I will say that I am extremely disappointed at Mr. Cook's
> statement " I don't know just what the problem is between Dennis and

He was responding to the overall theme, not your personal issues with
Dennis. I am not siding with anyone, either. FWIW, I am disappointed you
felt it necessary to remark upon Mr. Cook's statement while at the same time
encouraging the issue to be dropped.

And as to democracy ... why not let the users of the list decide if they
wish to see Dennis participate, not those who have personal involvement? If
Dennis and RBTI wish to continue their struggles in private, so be it. The
list doesn't need to be invloved, nor should it be. Dennis apologized and
it should have ended there; other parties escalated the entire affair.

If you wish to continue this email, I am willing to do so ... I won't be
posting to the list again on this issue.

Regards,

K R Brown
