Sami,

There were 2 main reasons for my using the distiller.. One.. You can
create multiple ports (ie each port can goto a different directory) and
thus you could capture/assign those ports and then in R:Base you could
direct output to any of those ports depending where you wanted to save
the document(s).
Second, Like I said I found the Adobe users site a jumble, but when I
did find information on redirecting the default on the pdfwriter, the
answer was that it could not be done. Finally I found a tech's response
that outlined redirecting the default using the distiller.. so I went
with that and it worked great.

If you need anything else, I am happy to help. I also look forward to
your demo at the conference using the pdfwriter. Maybe you should post
your work on the Adobe site too, it's definitly lacking some help in
this subject.

Frank -

This is really interesting - you have just presented a totally different
method of automating Adobe output from R:BASE than I was going to
present at
the developers' conference! I've used Razzak's method of configuring
the
Acrobat PDFWriter rather than the Distiller - I'll have to test out the
differences and see if I can see some benefits one way or another.

Did you have a particular reason you chose to configure the Distiller
vs.
the PDFWriter?

Thanks,
Sami
