Triggers and More Triggers ...

Yes, Folks!

Among the hot topics, technical presentations and Next
Generation R:BASE 7.0, Wayne J. Erickson, Creator of R:BASE
and Head of the R:BASE Dream Team, will present his take on
"Triggers and More Triggers ...", at the 4th Annual R:BASE
Developers' Conference, April 19-22, 2002.

This special presentation will be followed by a few more
examples and a case study by Harlan B. Haynie (Authorized
R:BASE Developer) and his associates.

Among a few other enhancements, the upcoming Inline Patch-3
for R:BASE 2000 (ver 6.5++), Build:1.852xRT03, scheduled to
be released at the conference, will include support for
BEFORE and AFTER Triggers.

The current triggers are all "before" triggers in that
they run just before the actual INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE
and give you the ability to abort the action. The new
triggers are "after" triggers in that they run just after
the action. Since the modified data has been "committed"
you cannot abort the action in an after trigger.
