Alastair,

Have you tried running the EEP off the table settings?
On row entry, On row exit, After saving row, After leaving section.

I had a similar problem and this worked for me.

Also try a saverow

The EEP is run on leaving the row but I don't usually enter the last
updateable field in the row... maybe there's something in that - worth
checking anyhow which I'll do over the next day or two.

I've also checked both the variable and the field orders, as Damon
suggested, and whilst I don't think anything was out of order there were a
couple of not quite logical (but not dependant) sequences which could
confuse things I suppose. I'll play with those, too.
