Steve - You could use the program, SHARECPY.EXE that is included in R:SCOPE. The Help file gives this explanation:
Syntax Options filespec1 Specifies the existing files to be copied. filespec2 Specifies the new files to be created. About the SHARECPY Utility SHARECPY.EXE is an R:SCOPE utility that will allow you to copy open databases to another location. This can be especially useful if your files are constantly in use. These copied files can then serve as an archive or back-up. The only thing to be careful of is that files copied in this manner may not be internally consistant. For example, if a user adds a record to a table after the Data file is completely copied but before the Index file is completely copied then you will have an index for a row that does not exist. That said this can still be the best way to take "snap shots" of a database that is under heavy use. Part of your routine could be to pack the copy after it is moved, to fix any problems with the index file. ----------------------------------------------------------- Sami Aaron Software Management Specialists 19312 W 63rd Terr Shawnee KS 66218 913-915-1971 http://www.softwaremgmt.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Durham" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, May 03, 2002 12:54 PM Subject: Backing Up a Live Database > > > I am designing a disaster recovery procedure that will require me to copy a > live Rbase 6.5++ database approximately five times a day.
