Dear Customer, Capital Security Solutions' support team would like to bring to your attention a Hoax that has just been released. Also known as the Teddy Bear hoax it is very similar to the recent SULFNBK.EXE hoax. The JDBGMGR.EXE hoax refers to a very destructive virus that isn't detected by Anti Virus software and will destroy the C: drive after 14 days. Full details from the Norman web page are as follows: ************************* JDBGMGR.EXE General characteristics: * Type: Hoax * Spreading mechanism: None * Email characteristics: * Body: I got a virus from someone and it was unfortunately automatically sent to my whole address book-it is transmitted through outlook and messenger (so it may not have come through any attachment!)--. If you've gotten this virus(called jdbgmgr.exe), it sleeps in your computer for 14days before eating up your hard disk (C:) and ruining your whole system. Unfortunately, Norton or other anti viruses can't detect this virus so you have to eliminate it yourself. Do this quick check to see if your computer has it and erase it. Sorry for the inconvenience. 1. go to Start and push Find (or Search) 2. write jdbgmgr.exe 3. be sure that you are looking drive C hard drive 4. push "find now" 5. If the virus appears, it's icon is a little bear with jdbgmgr.exe, DON T OPEN FOR ANY REASON 6. PUSH the right button of you mouse and select Delete 7. go to the trash bin and delete the file * Attachment: None * Destructivity: None * Detected by virus detection files published: Pending * Virus characteristics first published: 02 May 2002 11:00 (CET) * Virus characteristics latest update: 02 May 2002 11:20 (CET) Additional description of malicious program: Type: This is another computer virus hoax, a clone of the SULFNBK.EXE hoax that has plagued the world for a while already. Spreading mechanism: The body text mentioned above may vary. Hoaxes are typically changed a lot as people translate the text manually. The file jdbgmgr.exe is of course completely innocent - it is the Microsoft Java Debug Manager. Detection and removal: Norman Virus Control does not scan for false virus warnings. ************************* Please contact the Capital Security Solutions support team if you have any further questions.
