Thank you for the below input. A couple of questions. Does the RunTime support minimizing windows? I can eliminate the Rbase ToolBar, but I cannot both minimize the active window and get rid of the tool bar. So can you confirm that RunTime will allow me to minimize the window and since it does not have the tool bar, resolve that problem?
Also, I need to check to see what pricing is available. The RBTI web site only lists an unlimited version of RunTime and this app will only be using 4 users. I do not do that much custom programming to justify the unlimited RunTime cost. Currently the plan is to use the 5 seat license package. Thanks for the input! -----Original Message----- From: Anthony Schmidt [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, May 23, 2002 8:49 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: Novice Question Bob: The way I do it is to only distribute RBase RunTime to the users. They never get the RBase ToolBar in the RunTime version. In addition, it is much more cost effective to distribute your application with RunTime instead of the full RBase client. Remember that every user needs a valid license of either the RBase program or the RBase RunTime program to run your application. You can contact RBTI for more info and pricing. Enjoy! My solution is to run the entire application from forms. In your main program use the RHIDE command before you call the main form and the Rbase window will not show. Look at the sample applications included with Windows Rbase, normally in the directory "C:\RBTI\RBWin65\Samples" for examples. Also, if you use the command: SET VAR RBTI_nostatus INTEGER = 1 Along with the "NOHEADER" option on the "EDIT USING..........NOHEADER" the header menus as well as the status lines at the bottom of the form will not show and you will have a very cool form. I will e-mail you a screen shot of the main screen directly as I do not want to tax the LIST with a large JPEG file. Javier Valencia, PE President Valencia Technology Group, L.L.C. 14315 S. The scenario is that my users will start an application through an Icon on the Windows Desktop as normal. I want to be able to minimize the Rbase session window without giving them access to the development tool bar, I.E. R>, Object Mgr. etc. If I make my app read "Edit using FormName MDI" I can shrink the Rbase session window, but I can also shrink the form and gain access to the R>, Object Mgr. etc. If I leave the MDI off, I cannot shrink the Rbase Window's session. I am a little embarrassed in that I can write fairly complicated apps and not figure this simple problem out! (Or at least quick enough that I found it more economical to ask the list for assistance!)
