Now we are getting somewhere. C:\ is not in my path either. When I tried ftpstart.bat, which is located in C:\, 2000 found it and executed it. When I tried ftptest.bat, a nonexistant file, then IE came up displaying the address: ftp://ftptest.bat/ and displayed the message:
"Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access the folder. Details: The server name or address could not be resolved." So it looks like Windows is outsmarting itself. When RUNning or LAUNCHing a batch file starting with the letters ftp that can't be found, Windows assumes it is an ftp command and opens IE to process it. Wonderful. --------------------------------------- At 04:52 PM 5/23/2002 -0700, you wrote: >Hi, > >Tested under Win XP Pro > >I created a ftptest.bat in the root folder c:\ >In RUN it typed ftptest.bat and a browser came up. > >The reason the browser came up was that C:\ is not in my Path > >When I typed "c:\ftptest.bat" in the RUN it worked just fine. > > >Ben Johansen - http://www.pcforge.com >Authorized WiTango Reseller http://www.pcforge.com/WiTangoGoodies.htm >Latest downloads & List Archives @ http://www.witango.ws > > >-----Original Message----- >From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] >On Behalf Of Bernie Corrigan >Sent: Thursday, May 23, 2002 4:34 PM >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: Re: Launch command > >Tried it again.
