Is there a command in R:Tango that will resize gif or jpeg files?

If not does anyone else do this when downloading images?

My goal is to resize images when downloading to a standard size and also to
create a thumbnail of the image. If would also be great to verify that the
original file has an extension of jpg or gif.

I prefer not to store these images within the database, but in a folder.

Thanks to Troy for help in accomplishing the downloading.

Thanks for any ideas.
