Steve,

As you cursor down the file list you could accumulate the byte 
total in a variable. Use the variable as a condition in your while 
statement:

Set vTtlBytes integer = 0
Dec cur
open cur
fetch.... include Bytes Col
...
While sqlCode <> 100 and vTtlBytes < 7000000 Then
  Do Stuff
  Fetch... include Bytes Col
  Set v vTtlBytes = (.vTtlBytes + .bytesAtCursor)
EndWhile
