Now, I fixed my abnormal exit from yesterday using R:Scope 6.1 on R:Base 6.5++ by strictly following the mapped flow chart for database repair from R:Scope's manual. That included learning how to use the tool. A very valuable lesson. I learned how to correct the DBINFO file length and the column structure of sys_passwords/sys_table_id. Now, R:Base and Explorer won't let me delete the original db files because of a "file in use" error so I'm off to find a way to change the file attributes to delete the corrupted files (attrib) in my old DOS disks.
