Can anyone tell me an easy way to determine if text fields in my database
(i.e. name and address lines) contain non-printable characters that may
have come from a mainframe import without being properly scrubbed?
<<

If your purpose is only to detect spurious char. I would try to use LUC
function.

I did't make any test, but the idea is to compare TextString and
LUC(TextString).
If TextString contains only letters and digits, they should be equal.
If not, they should be different.

Of course, this suppose that your RBASE.CFG file is correct ....

Hope this will help,
