To: Eric Bienstock; Mike Ramsour; Alber Berry; David Ratliff; Bill Downall and all who attended last week's Inside R:BASE 7.0 for Windows Training Seminar in Pittsburgh, PA:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your contributions, suggestions and feedback which is added even more power and functionality to The Magical R:BASE 7.0 for Windows. The Dream Team of R:BASE has made every effort to live up to the highest expectations of our loyal R:BASE community, in general, and current R:BASE users, developers, government/educational agencies and trained beta testers, in particular, who have been very instrumental in the success of the R:BASE 7.0 development process. In an ongoing effort to encourage others to join the ever growing list of trained beta testers, we need to spread the word of how productive, informative and valuable the process of attending the Inside R:BASE 7.0 Training sessions really are. Remember, there is power in numbers, and more people we collectively bring aboard the 7.0 band wagon, the greater the product ultimately will be. Once again, we would to re-iterate our appreciation for all those who have taken valuable time out of their busy schedule to get the jump start on Understanding, Converting and Developing R:BASE 7.0 for Windows applications with endless possibilities. Very Best Regards, Razzak. P.S. I had more fun presenting the program to all of you than you could have ever imagined! At 12:56 AM 9/21/2002 -0400, Eric M. With this software you have virtually total control over every aspect of the programming environment. If I had the finished product right now I could use it right away. For anyone who develops in R:BASE, this product is definitely the future. Congratulations and thanks to Razzak and staff for developing this product and giving us a chance to get a head start on learning it. Eric M. It is truly magical to be able to sit in class and make enhancement requests, point out "boo boos" and make recommendations and then have those issues implemented right in class or at least overnight. We received a number of new verions of 7.0 within those 3 days. I think all of us sat in class nearly awestruck with the new features and capabilities that have been included in 7.0. We're just champing at the bit to get back to the real world so that we can start showing off all these new goodies. The ease with which you put these powerful new capabilities to work is just incredible. A click here a click there and voila (nothing up my sleeve) it's done! No smoke and mirrors here! For those of you who are still hanging back at pre-6.5++ versions do yourself a favor and get with the future, join the parade and come join the fun. Otherwise you'll be left in the dust. As Razzak always says you will never regret staying current. The rest is history. You owe it to yourself and your clients to start planning now for this magical new version. Thanks so much to Razzak, Mike Willochell and Alexi for a tremendous three days. You are really one first class organization! I enjoyed myself throoughly - and even got (as did the other six attending) some personal requests installed while we were there. Bugs we were found were fixed, and new builds issued twice a day for the entire three days. I also got to meet face to face Bill Downall with whom I have exchanged OS/2 remarks from time to time over the last [number hiddden to camouflage ages] years on the lists. Mike and Aleksye were fixing things as we found them while trying out the new features and "doo-dads" that finally give R:Base a truly Windows look and feel. It was fun! I recently joined the list server and to be quite honest, my first impression when I read the reviews about the RBASE 7.0 training was "Yea right! These guys probably work for RBTI or have some paid interest in it!" Well, in a sense that is true. RBASE is so unique (and profiled in it's own little niche) anyone working with it has an investment with RBTI. That's by design. And, the power of production it provides (too many Ps?) creates an income source for anyone who is ambitious enough to pursue it (those Ps again). I just returned from a trip to Pittsburgh where I attended an RBASE Training Seminar. Here it comes - RBASE 7.0 is amazing! I was blown away with the awesome capabilities of Razaak and Staff's new "magical" engine and the even more impressive interface. Folks, I am telling you this is 100% Windows compatible and beyond! Razaak and Staff have given a fully Windows compatible product and yet retained the features and functions that RBASE developers and users have come to love about RBASE! That's right, we get the best of both worlds! You know, our cake and eat it too! I have attended many training seminars over the years and I have never been in a seminar where we were learning and critiquing the software at the same time and the development team was on hand to implement requests and "booboos". We learned not to call them bugs or Razaak would make us eat crow. If you haven't already attended one of these seminars I strongly encourage you - don't wait any longer! Razaak's warning is eminent "... they think RBASE is legacy but we are going forward in a big way. If you don't join us we will leave you behind." After this last week in Pittsburgh I tend to agree with him. I for one intend to stay on-board. Was this review solicited? You bet! I have a future in RBASE. It's my own investment. Did RBTI solicit this? Only through their honorable integrity, hard work, dedication, and terrific desire - no passion - to develop, implement and support a tool that gets the job done. I make no promises and give no more detail than I have given here. If you want the details you need to contact Razaak's team and get on board before the door closes! "Only through their honorable integrity, hard work, dedication, and terrific desire - no passion - to develop, implement and support a tool that gets the job done." In this statement I was trying to say not a terrific desire but rather a terrific passion to develop, implement and support a tool that gets the job done. I apologize for making it sound as if the folks at RBTI have no passion for this. Anyone who has been there knows that nothing could be further from the truth! By the way, my own conscience inspired this correction. I have received no reply that would indicate that anyone misunderstood my intention.
