I'm going to try and explain what I'm doing before I ask my question.
We accept applications/payments on line for the medical school. Every applicant has to fill out a personal statement. This statement can be any where from 1 paragraph to 40 pages or more long. More than likely they have this statemment already typed using MS Word, WordPerfect or what ever. They can then cut the info from their MS Word/WordPerfect and paste it into a textarea on the application. I have no problem with saving the data to the database, using a column type varchar. This keeps all the hard returns, indents. Now the applicant has completed the application and wants to print a copy. When I retrieve the statement and try to display it using the HTML pre tag it displays the 1st paragraph as one line. In other words losing all soft returns. If I leave off the pre it prints out as one long paragraph, no line breaks, no indents. Just wondering if anyone has a workaround for this.
