Incidently, why would you use this instance of the syntax?
Sounds like the COPY command to me... What am I missing?
With the requirement to maintain integrity and
version control with a half a dozen people
making changes to our source code we have
written an application to store each different
version of each app file in a database.

The text version of the file is maintained
outside the database so it can be used when
TRACEing but it is set to read only.

When a developer wishes to check a file out
we save the column contents to a varchar
datatype var then write it to a file.
