Hi from Sweden
No need to tear of your hair. I
have now used XP for sometime running win and dos 6.5++ and oldfashion 2.11
and 4.0.
Step Nr 1 read about files and
buffers and path in the html doc User Reference and Running R:Base for dos
on windows 2000 and forget your config.rmd and autoexec.rmd
I myself has the standard path set
c:\rbti\\rbdos65 and I use a simple dos-batch file to change when I run
the other versions.
For installing 6.5++ dos you can
either get special install for XP from R:DCC, since the orginal does not work
on XP or just copy from your old computer. But to get ODBC working you should
get the new installer.
(Then what I also did is in my
network stick to TCPIP only
and got rid of netbios and netware, before I did that I hade problem with
network access and fileattributes, this part howver is my own experiments not
confirmed by Rbase or Bill Gates ) ( An other not conformed problem I
experienced on XP is that old version like 2.11 behaves better with a new
install of XP rather then an upgrade I will not try to resolve this problem in
any other way than to convert all old version to 7.0)
Good luck and be happy that you
are on the sunny side of the earth right now. But in 5 months from the spring
will be here again
