Yes there certainly is.  You need to look into the ODBC (open database
connectivity) functionality that is available in R:Base and many other
data-related products.  With ODBC in R:Base you can be connected to one
database and connect (using the SCONNECT command) to multiple databases and
treat them all as if they were part of one massive database.  You have
access to all the views and tables in all the databases.  You SATTACH tables
and views from other databases.  It is incredibly powerful.  Older versions
of the ODBC drive in R:Base were very slow but with the current version
selecting data is very fast.

I'm not going to write a tutorial on this but dig into the manuals or
on-line help and you should get enough information to get you going.
