OK for testing, but not production. When I switch it to a VAR CHAR it fails miserably. I've messed around with several alternatives ... Does anybody have an approach that is clean? >> Chuck, I don't know how clean it is, but I have one we set up to send files to the Auto industry that you are welcome to look at. What I did was build a set of variables, but the EDI Line number in it for the loops, etc, and then used the Flat File to EDI data translation function from Trusted link, and it sucks it right in. I certainly won't claim any cleanliness to it, because it's definately a kludge, but it's worked for about 5 or 6 years now. If you would like a copy, email me, and I'll shoot you out a copy of the code. I know it won't plug in, but it will give you some ideas. Damon Damon D.
