New topic in General: Main Window Flicker On Mac (window frame and everything)
quangdog - Fri Mar 28, 2008 11:51 am <http://forums.realsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?t=21493> I recently upgraded to Leopard. Shortly after I did, I noticed some strange behavior with my app that did not exist on 10.4. My app consists of main window that is used for almost everything. There are several other windows used for things like setting preferences, alerting the user, adding new records, and printing. The problem occurs in the interaction with the printing window. I start my app, the main window shows. I go to print, and my print window appears, where the user selects what to print, and sends the print job. This opens the OS printer dialogue. Send the job to the printer and the OS dialogue and my print window closes. The main window still behaves normally. Print again - print window appears, I select what to print, it prints, and print window disappears and returns control to main window, which immediately flickers 2 times. Print again, it will flicker 3 times. Print again, 4 flickers, etc. This is not stuff in the window flickering, it's the _whole_ window: title bar, frame, contents, everything. Now, here's the kicker. In my print window, I have a cancel button to cancel the print job. You can go back and forth between just my main window and my print dialogue box all day long. The flicker ONLY occurs when you invoke the OS print window, regardless of whether you send a print job to the printer. This smells like a bug in Leopard.
