New topic in Databases: database on a webserver

I have written a program which allows users to search through a database, and get information base on various criteria. It has been uploaded to a webserver, but does not work when people try to access the database. Of course, they are saying this is my problem. I access the database using : f=getfolderitem("").child("bookdatabase") I have been told that they have uploaded my database to the same directory as the program, which is what I requested; I have to take their word for it... I know very little about web design and webservers. IF they have uploaded properly, with the folderitem declared as above, should the program not work? (As a side note, I have also supplied a server / client version of the program, but the customer can't use it as they are currently low on funds...) Help???
