New topic in Macintosh: "Home" and "End" keys in IDE Code Window
yeslekmc - Tue Apr 29, 2008 10:14 pm <http://forums.realsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?t=22128> I *really* wish there was a way to change the function of "Home" and "End" keys on a Mac keyboard to match the behavior in Windows. When I press "Home", I want the cursor to jump to the beginning of the current line. When I press "End", I want jump to the end. I know this isn't standard keystroke behavior for a Mac. "Home" jumps to top of text field or document; "End" jumps to bottom of text field or document. On a Mac, to jump to the beginning of a line requires "Command + Left Arrow". This is unproductive, and takes too long to type when editing large amounts of code. It's an exercise of frustration to touch typists that just want to get things done. Not to mention that in Leopard, one gets used to typing "Ctrl + [any] Arrow" to jump from one space to another. In XCode, you can override the actions of keys, "Home" and "End" included. This makes me a happy camper. I wish there was a similar way to override the meaning of "Home" and "End" in the RB IDE. Any keystroke utilities, suggestions, or tricks that others use would be most welcome, and a boon to my productivity. NOTE: I attempted to submit this as a feature request, but the feedback system appears to be broken. My attempts to submit a report yields the following error: There was a problem submitting your report. Please try again later. -- Over 900 classes with 18000 functions in one REALbasic plug-in.
