Posts: 25 I can't get my realbasic applications (2008R3) to run in
standard user mode on XP or Vista

Vista & XP throws a runtime exception when running in standard user.
All is fine if I "run as administrator"

I can manually fix the problem by setting the appearance pak (or any other
dll's) security settings check box "include inheritable permissions from this
objects parent" (this is located in Properties:Security:Advanced).

The problem is that the installer doesn't set this check box. I've tried two
different installers with the same results.

What is baffling is that even with the appearance pak.dll permissions set to
"Full Control" I still get a runtime exception. By setting and unsetting the
checkbox for inheritable permissions I can turn turn the problem on and off.

I have tried installing the software on 3 different computers - 2 vista's and 1
xp with the same results.

Obviously, I don't want my users to have to muck around in the security
settings for each Lib dll. It should run "out of the box" after installation
for standard users.

this problem has me baffled! Any ideas?
