Location: Loveland, OH USA Hi,

I want to display the standard MacOS X help button or help icon (whatever it
is) in my application's main window.
and then I want to call up the help system I am using when that button or icon
(whatever it is)
is pressed. I am using UniHelp.

I know how to display the UniHelp help system. What I don't know how to do is
display the standard MacOS X help button.

If anyone can tell me how to do this, help is appreciated.

Is this an icon or button you're seeing somewhere or the standard Help menu?

If it is a problem remembering, because honestly some of my brain's RAM is
faulty, then how about a notebook? I would say a directory on your Hard Drive
but if you forget to do backups and your drive crashes you are pretty much back
to square one. I do this, I keep printouts, code snippets, questions, etc
organized in a binder so I can always refer to something... The reason I am
telling you this, Brian, is you have a tendency to ask the same questions over
and over again.

Hope that helps...

Posts: 264 Okay, color me embarrassed. I've been using OS X for a
while now and honestly couldn't remember a "standard Mac OS X help Button" (or
whatever). And couldn't find it any main windows of any Apple software. But
then I went to print something, there it was: The Official Mac OS X Help
Button Thingy (or whatever). I haven't read Apple's official guidelines
lately, but it seems to show up (in Apple's software) only in dialog boxes
(preferences, print, etc.).

As far as displaying one for use in your own programs, a canvas based button
would seem to be in order. Easy enough to roll your own -- a search for "icon
button", "canvas button", or something similar should point you in the right
direction.

[Apple purplized the Official Mac OS X Help Button Thingy (or whatever), so
maybe I'm not the only one who hasn't been seeing it all these years. Or maybe
I just suffer from selective blindness.]
