I've released a new version of RBGLSprites with a number of bug fixes and new
features, including:

* You can now specify a separate image for each sprite to use as a mask. This
allows you to create sprites with a collision region that is a different shape
or size from the visible area (all collision detection in RBGLSprites is
pixel-accurate).

* Sprites now have a Paint event allowing you to do arbitrary drawing on top of
the Sprite image, or to leave the image property blank and draw each sprite
manually. This allows you to create sprites that would be very awkward to
represent with a static image.

For those that missed the previous updates, RBGLSprites is a re-implementation
of the deprecated REALbasic SpriteSurface control using OpenGL. Version 1.1
reached 100% feature compatibility with the old control, and since then we have
built upon the legacy SpriteSurface's features set, adding full 32-bit
translucent image support, arbitrary sprite rotation, variable opacity control,
arbitrary background tile sizes, and loads more.

Like Super Sprite Surface, RBGLSprites runs on Windows and Mac OS, and is
completely free and open source. Unlike Super Sprite Surface it does not rely
on a plugin and can be used to build single-file executables on Windows in the
latest versions of REALbasic.

We offer full, free support for RBGL, RBGLSprites and RBGL3D - if you're having
trouble getting something to work, or performance isn't as good as you expect,
email me and I'll help you get up and running.

Enjoy,

Nick

ps, I did post this to the REALbasic announcements list, but having waited for
36 hours without it appearing I've given up on it. For some reason, none of the
last four or five things I've posted to the pr address have surfaced, and I've
never received any message about why they were rejected. If anyone has any
ideas what I'm doing wrong I'd love to hear it.
