I'm using serial numbers in the form XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX and checking the
validity in my application.

Is the any way for instance, if I use asc("A") that I would ever get a value
different than 65?

We get the odd report that the codes that are sent out don't verify in the
program and I can't work out why they don't work, when they verify ok on my
version.

I'm using trim() to make sure no white spaces are used, uppercase and the
editfield is defined without multiline.

Not all the codes are the same length so I can't use an edit mask.

We've just had someone in south africa with this problem. One computer the code
didn't verify, another one did. As far as he is concerned they are set up with
the same OS (Both Windows XP) and i'd assume the same language settings.

Anyone got any ideas?

Location: San Diego, CA CHR(65) is "A" in all ASCII
encodings.....and the subsets of UTF-8 etc.

Basically 0x00 to 0x7F are the 7bit ASCII character set which encompasses the
standard A-Z, 0-9, a-z and standard punctuation characters
