Posts: 138              Nothing like 2 hours down the drain on a nice sunday 
afternoon wrestling with the worst computer os in the world.

I recently needed to bump up RB on both OSX and pc versions.  The OSX upgrade 
was instant and effortless, how surprising. My desktop pc died which had an 
older RB version, maybe 2006. I downloaded the new 2009 5 and installed it on a 
Toshiba laptop, and when running the app it asks for the key, so I went to RB 
site and bought an upgrade key for 49. I enter the key as copy and paste 10 
times, it always says the license info is entered wrong, I even typed it 
manually twice.  So I read the possible problems, and yes date and time were 
wrong somehow, I change it, no luck.  I tried running the trial, and it says no 
internet connection and I can call a number,  to which the office is closed.  I 
spend and hour trying to study proxy stuff, test that idea and get nowhere, and 
have now wasted further time when this should be a 60 second process.  So I say 
heck with it let me just buy the thing again and maybe that will solve it, so I 
spend another 99 and buy it and enter that new code as copy and paste 5 times 
and get the same responses.  

If I could get away without having the pc that would certainly be a quality of 
life enhancement, but since so many people still use this junk I am forced to 
have part of my product ball and chained to it as well, so I have to drudge 
through the muck of using a pc when it would be much nicer if I could just 
complete my app that my clients need and be out of here enjoying the day 
elsewhere.  Why does this have to be so difficult in the year 2009 when OSX was 
working perfectly as far back as 1999?  Why does this platform even exist 
still?  It really does not make sense to me. Proof is in the pooding,  the OSX 
WORKED in a matter of seconds, the pc DOESN'T and has cost me a a lot of 
frustration. 

If there is someone out there that understands my problem and could offer any 
suggestions that could get this running today without customer service help 
tomorrow, I would greatly appreciate it.
