It used to work, but now its broken - I no longer see the edit button. The FAQs still imply I should be able to edit my own posts: faq.php#f31 _________________ Fly like a mouse, run like a cushion, be the small bookcase. http://www.wish-sandwich.com Top thommcgrath Post subject: Re: Lost the ability to edit my posts . . .Posted: Tue Jun 22, 2010 2:13 pm Site Admin Joined: Tue May 06, 2008 1:07 pm Posts: 439 Location: Greater Hartford Area, CT Well it looks like the FAQ should be updated. We removed the ability to edit posts. The forums have a somewhat anonymous nature, and some users have posted unwelcome comments only to remove them before the admins see it. By preventing editing, we hope people will be more careful about what they say in the future. _________________ -- Thom McGrath IT Developer, REAL Software Top pregan Post subject: Re: Lost the ability to edit my posts . . .Posted: Tue Jun 22, 2010 2:30 pm Joined: Fri Sep 30, 2005 9:16 am Posts: 718 Location: Boston, MA, USA Instead of taking away the ability to edit why not instead take away the anonymous nature of the forums? It seems to me that correct code and technical information trumps putting up barriers that will do nothing to stop the misbehaving users of the community. Trolls will always be trolling, but bad code can live a needlessly long lifetime. _________________ What have you searched for so far? What have you tried so far? I often edit a post to improve its clarity or correct errors I made in my original post. Will the mods consider this? http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=2093410 On the whole we are a helpful and friendly community, with the rare occasional outburst thrown in for good measure. Please don't damn the majority by the actions of a small minority. _________________ Fly like a mouse, run like a cushion, be the small bookcase. http://www.wish-sandwich.com Top thommcgrath Post subject: Re: Lost the ability to edit my posts . . .Posted: Tue Jun 22, 2010 2:59 pm Site Admin Joined: Tue May 06, 2008 1:07 pm Posts: 439 Location: Greater Hartford Area, CT That does seem like a good mod. We'll consider it. Our goal is an immutable archive, which that seems to provide. _________________ -- Thom McGrath IT Developer, REAL Software Top pony Post subject: Re: Lost the ability to edit my posts . . .Posted: Tue Jun 22, 2010 3:11 pm Joined: Sat Nov 11, 2006 2:43 pm Posts: 765 Location: DFW area, Texas, USA thommcgrath wrote:That does seem like a good mod. I say letâs try this for a while and see how it goes. If the lack of editing turns away those of us with good intentions, too often, then the issue can be revisited by the community in the near future.
