Is there a way to send messages to be displayed on that window? Is there a way to start and stop the server? I guess I was surprised to find that a Web Application wasn't already a ServiceApplication. _________________ Stephen Koger SEKESC-Greenbush "Ensuring Equal Educational Oppurtunities for Everyone" Top simulanics Post subject: Re: Standalone App Administration ConsolePosted: Sat May 12, 2012 7:26 pm Joined: Sun Aug 12, 2007 10:10 am Posts: 561 Location: Boiling Springs, SC You may want to see here http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=w ... 7Au9jGxQWw This is how to make a standalone webapp into a service ... _________________ Matthew A. Now how about the console? Where can I write messages? Do I have to write them to a file and access it? Or can I send them to the Window that opens? If I start as a service will that window still come up? If I can write to that window. How do I do it? Thanks everyone for your assistance so quickly! simulanics wrote:In the real software blog it can also be found here http://www.realsoftwareblog.com/2012/03 ... s.html?m=1 _________________ Stephen Koger SEKESC-Greenbush "Ensuring Equal Educational Oppurtunities for Everyone" Top simulanics Post subject: Re: Standalone App Administration ConsolePosted: Sat May 12, 2012 8:07 pm Joined: Sun Aug 12, 2007 10:10 am Posts: 561 Location: Boiling Springs, SC bluesfannoz wrote:Okay that answers one of my questions. When run as a service, it will not appear rather run in the background. Perhaps if I know a little bit about what exactly you're trying to write to the console I can help you achieve your goal _________________ Matthew A. I would like it to show when someone is logged in and their ip address and username. Basically in an event viewer type log. I need this to work on both a Windows or Mac server so keep that in mind in your response. simulanics wrote:bluesfannoz wrote:Okay that answers one of my questions. Now how about the console? In a window accessible by the "admin" (you) create a weblistbox named lstUsers (2 columns - Headings being "Username" and "IP Address") Add a Timer or Button and put this in it Dim i as integer Dim x as integer dim y as string i = App.SessionCount-1 lstUsers.DeleteAllRows for x = 0 to i lstUsers.AddRow app.SessionAtIndex(x).Username lstUsers.Cell(x,1) = app.SessionAtIndex(x).RemoteAddress next x This will populate your listbox with all online users and their ip addresses. If you want a log, you will have to create an event to "log" the user's information on "signin" and "signout" (ie create a TextOutput stream or write to a database)...the above method will return "Who's online" If you need an example I can provide one that is already prepared. _________________ Matthew A.
