and d.AbbreviatedDate

but both show the "day of the week".

For today, for example, I just want a string with:

May 15, 2012

How do I get that from a date object?

Searched but could not find anything.

months Jan - Dec

Dim MyDate As String = Months(d.Month - 1)+ " " + str(d.Day) + ", " +
str(d.Year)

I personally would Extend the date but some don't like doing that, either way
works.

Location: San Diego, CA What those show depends on the setting
for the operating system.

So even if you set your computer to show or not show the DOW... someone else
computer could display differently.

On OSX the DEFAULT for Abbreviated Date is "May 15,2012"

Of course you could always write your own function that will display the date
however your (or your end-user) wants, regardless of the Operating system
settings.
