Posts: 207 Suddenly, I can't run web apps on my VPS account.
The provider (inmotionhosting) swears there is nothing blocked, etc.

I created an empty web app that just displays a line of text on a page
I built it for Linux as a CGI with automatic port selection
I uploaded all the files via fetch to my cgi-bin folder with the proper
binary/text formats
I changed the permissions on the app and the .cgi to "755"

When I try to run it, I get: "Unable to launch application 'MyApplication' on
port 4784". For a while, I was able to run apps this way, but then it all
stopped working at some point. Some of the apps I was experimenting with were
crashing. I am stuck, and the host doesn't know how to help me.

Very frustrated

have different application identifiers and different ports
The application identifier is set in the app properties.

continued to run, and kill it. If this "just happened recently" with no other
changes, then that is the most likely explanation.

Posts: 207 That should not be an issue if I am attempting to run
them one at a time, true?

apparently the .cgi file generates this error in the apache logs:

Can't exec "/home/vroomb5/public_html/glideplan/cgi-bin/landouts/landouts":
Permission denied at landouts.cgi line 326.

where landouts is the program name

the program had no identifier and so would not launch!

Thanks!

That's usually the case if apps suddenly stops working after uploading a second
one.
Been there a couple of times since by brain doesn't seem to be present every
time I want to
