Can anyone else confirm that Mac RS 2012R1 save as format isn't working correctly? If you try to save a project in XML format for some reason it's labeled as Version Control format. The extention appears to be correct as does the file AFAIK but the 'kind' is version control format. Bug? If you mean "Kind" as in "Show Info".... I see it as "Ultra Edit Document".... but then that is what I open all XML files in by default. I saved a project in XML format using 2012r1..... worked just fine even reloaded under 20011r4 with no issues other than standard warning "was previously saved in a new version" _________________ Dave Sisemore MacPro, OSX 10.7.3 RB2011r3 Note : I am not interested in any solutions that involve custom Plug-ins of any kind Top DaveS Post subject: Re: 2012R1 save as format bug?Posted: Sat Sep 01, 2012 3:02 pm Joined: Sun Aug 05, 2007 10:46 am Posts: 4067 Location: San Diego, CA [double post] _________________ Dave Sisemore MacPro, OSX 10.7.3 RB2011r3 Note : I am not interested in any solutions that involve custom Plug-ins of any kind Top J.Sh3ppard Post subject: Re: 2012R1 save as format bug?Posted: Sat Sep 01, 2012 3:29 pm Joined: Tue Mar 23, 2010 8:44 pm Posts: 407 DaveS wrote:What do you mean "labeled as Version Control Format"? See the third image in the first picture. The XML project is labeled as Version Control. I believe it is supposed to show up as XML Project (last picture). http://s14.postimage.org/8e3vgv3gx/RS_format_bug.png http://s11.postimage.org/93ahdqir7/RS_xml.png A minor annoyance but I'm glad the file actually works. This may not even be Real's bug. If you have some other application installed that has claimed the XML extension as it's own (via an entry in the plist) then the Finder in OS X will show you that label. If you right click on the XML file what application does it show as the default to open it with ? _________________ My web site Great White Software RBLibrary.com REALbasic learning Top DaveS Post subject: Re: 2012R1 save as format bug?Posted: Sat Sep 01, 2012 3:44 pm Joined: Sun Aug 05, 2007 10:46 am Posts: 4067 Location: San Diego, CA npalardy wrote:[ A minor annoyance but I'm glad the file actually works. If you right click on the XML file what application does it show as the default to open it with ? Hi Norman and Dave, thanks for replying. I just created a new desktop XML project in 2012_R1. Right clicking on it brings up REALbasic 2009 R.5.1.app as the default. Not really a big deal if the project files work as they should - meaning nothing gets corrupted but it would be nice to know what's going on and why. Thanks. http://s11.postimage.org/b62zlt5yr/RS_2012_defaultopen.png Top npalardy Post subject: Re: 2012R1 save as format bug?Posted: Sat Sep 01, 2012 4:10 pm Real Software Engineer Joined: Sat Dec 24, 2005 8:18 pm Posts: 7399 Location: Canada, Alberta, Near Red Deer Sounds like 2009r5 has or is still the application the Finder thinks is responsible for file with an XML extension. Open the Get Info window & set it to default to open with 2012r1 and see if the description changes. Some of this will depend on what version of OS X you're using _________________ My web site Great White Software RBLibrary.com REALbasic learning Top J.Sh3ppard Post subject: Re: 2012R1 save as format bug?Posted: Sat Sep 01, 2012 7:06 pm Joined: Tue Mar 23, 2010 8:44 pm Posts: 407 npalardy wrote:Sounds like 2009r5 has or is still the application the Finder thinks is responsible for file with an XML extension.
