Where each cell looks like the top edge of a manila folder, with the listbox
text drawn on the "tab'?

The technical details I have covered (CELLBACKGROUNDPAINT etc)..... its the
best way to do the graphics that I'm struggling with

I have a direction I'm going to persue... but was hoping someone might already
have done it and would be willing to share

I've come up with so far. and YES that is a standard listbox..... with special
coding in the CELLBACKGROUNDPAINT and CELLTEXTPAINT events

and ideas, suggestions or comments to make it look better would be
appreciated...

to me, what more do you need? Maybe shadows if you want to overkill.

I have a listbox for highlighting hierarchy groups. There's 3 boundary types
(round, rect and battlestar galactica) hard coded in with some options for
sizing. I think there's an option for custom drawing where the cell paint
events get extra data about overlaps and indents, but maybe that's used up with
the 3 hard coded ones, I forget,it's been awhile. It's sorta similar to your
folders but I don't know if it applies.

Dave - you might want to have an option where the selected filefolder isn't
rounded on the right so you could put it next to a canvas with the same
background color that would display the contents of said filefolder. Does that
make sense? It would end up behaving a bit more like a tabpanel, I suppose.
Obviously you'd probably want to reverse the highlight and non-highlight colors
for that case, so the highlighted folder is the lighter and the rest are dark.
