Posts: 292 So i've been dealing with all the regular windows
flickering issues. I have tabs and containers within containers and this is
obviously causes a ton of flickering. Retrospectively I would have disallowed
tabs and just made the user open a bunch of windows (which is annoying) but at
least I would have saved myself a ton of time and screen glitching.

Anyways because I can't overlay controls I decided to build my own canvas with
it's own type of rectcontrols and UI. It works great on a mac but on windows
none of the MouseOver, MouseMove, etc... events work consistently - 95% of the
time they fail which is clearly unacceptable.

I know my code is acceptable as it works perfectly on a mac. But since
everything is failing on windows I wasted a days work building it.

So:
I can't subclass the canvas as the interaction of the components doesn't work
well enough on windows.
I can't use superspritesurface because it doesn't work for Cocoa
I can't use openGl because it will take too long to learn and implement for
what I need to do

----------
Are there any other options? I need an interactive canvas with various controls
and containers the user can interact with while not having a flickering
nightmare. The web version does container controls so perfectly and it works
fine on windows. Why can't a desktop application do this?!

Location: Portland, OR USA There's no fundamental reason why
you couldn't implement what you describe on Windows. I hate to say, but I
would suspect your code, not the platform. Of course, I'm talking very general
terms here since I know nothing about your project.

Shouldn't it function the same on Windows as a Mac though? It uses the same
controls and the same scripting.

If anyone wants to take a look they can. Feel free to use my code too, but it
only works well on a mac.
