I have an odd issue that I am not quite sure how to solve. My program uses
quite a bit of applescript to control other applications and occasionally it
chokes and will not work it all. I notice that on the first time I run the
program and it calls an applescript it takes a very long time to execute the
script like its initializing or something. I can hear the drive whirring away
and the busy cursor appears. Very often during this first run up the script
will fail and return no value causing me grief. The issue is that the program
continues to execute and does not "wait" for the script to execute properly.
What is odd is that it will continue to return no value if I call it again but
runs fine if the initial call was successful (it has never failed if the first
call worked). Is there some kind of initialization I can do before calling any
scripts to ensure that Applescript is "ready"?

The only thing I can think of is to have my program run a meaningless
applescript on startup but there is probably a better way and any help would be
appreciated.

Thanks
