Posts: 6 Hello, I am new with programming

I am finishing a sale program to be use by one or multiple sellers in a store.
When I install the program I will find one of this three scenarios:

A) In the case that there is only one seller the DB will be in the same machine
with the program.

B) In the case that there is more than one seller the DB will be in one of the
seller's machine and will be shared with the other sellers. (This is the most
common Case)

C) In rare cases there will be many sellers and the DB will be alone in a
machine with any operating system. (Some times windows server, vista, xp,
windows 7 or 8, other times MAC OS or maybe Linux)

As this is my first project I want to deal only with one DB. As a friend told
me I must married one and never cheat with it. That way I will take the most
advantage of that DB.

I think the best option is to use PostgreSQL. Because of license, powerful, etc.

As I am new I am looking for suggestions. Should I use PostgreSQL or not? And
also important is: WHY?

TIA...

Location: Boiling Springs, SC Why not just use MySQL? It's open
source, very secure, and the most widely used database system of the Web Plus
it's extremely easy to use with Real Studio. I have used PHP with PostgreSQL
and it is powerful..although has more limitations than DBMS's like MySQL(I
migrated the database to MySQL in the end for easiest management of the
database). There are business plans..like enterprise... for mysql apart from
the open source edition...which includes the bonus of 24/7 tech support.
CubeSQL is very awesome as well...if you view my recent posts you can find
examples (source included) of how to access a database and run
queries/executions remotely via your own embedded SQL server composed entirely
of real studio classes If you need any 'personalized' help or have any
questions feel free to PM me and I would be glad to provide answers as well as
demos with source if needed to get you on the right path.
