Best in terms of conservation of space? That's probably the hardest to program. Best in terms of ease of programming? Which do you want? There are at least 3 approaches: 1) Save it as a binary string in a Blob column. 2) HexEncode it and save it as a string. 3) Base64Encode it and save it as a string. Each has pluses and minuses. None are completely wrong or right. Choose the one you're most comfortable with.
