New topic: Advanced Installer now Imports Real Studio Projects

This saves time and minimizes the chances of missing any changes from the previous project version. For instance, after updating our apps to take advantage of the new Crypto module in Real Studio 2012 Release 2, Advanced Installer automatically included the new Crypto.dll in the installation packages. Very nice! For those of you that haven't tried Advanced Installer, they do have a free version. The free version continues to meet all of our needs. Inno Setup is certainly another good installer for Windows but it lacks the ability to import Real Studio projects. Advanced Installer can also build an encrypted installer but it's the Crypto module in Real Studio 2012 Release 2 that I was referring to. The longer answer is that Advanced Installer parses key information from a Real Studio project and uses it to determine the app name, app version, library files, etc. so that we don't have to worry about those aspects of the installer configuration. There's still manual work to do on our part but not quite as much as there used to be which saves time and reduces errors on our part. We're just users of their product and are excited about this new feature that might benefit other Real Studio developers. It's free so give it a try if you're interested. If not, there are other choices for Windows like Inno Setup that was recommended by SpaceBuddy.
