I have an application that updates a listbox from a thread. The thread handles
getting the data from a database.

In the past when I used carbon compiles, the main app window would open with
the listbox columns all configured and it would look nice, and then after the
thread has opened the database connection and queried the data, the listbox
contents would be filled out. It worked nicely and looked good.

If I try a compile in Cocoa, I find the window opens and the listbox's have not
been setup yet, and you can see them having the columns and background cell
paint being applied and it looks really weird. Is there something weird about
how Cocoa handles setting up windows and listbox's?

I would love to start compiling all my apps in cocoa, and it looks like cocoa
is generally working quite nicely now. It would be cool to use it.
