I have my code written in VBA and VB.net (nearly) so I understand the programming basics etc. What I am having trouble with is actually getting Real Basic to actually do anything other than the tutorial stuff (web browser etc). The interface on a form like page is straightforward (i.e event handling) but I cannot seem to use msgboxes, populate a listbox etc like in VBA/.net as easily. So I reckon I'm missing something so basic which I cannot find and kindly ask for a real "janet and john" guide to writing subs, functions, populating list boxes, how to output calculations etc. The code snippets I see posted here assume the basics are already known. A for instance - it took me quite a while to discover (I think I am right here) that in VB a statement like msgbox "The value is: " & X would be written something like MsgBox "The value is:" + Str(X) as it appears msgboxes are handled differently. Really basic stuff but time consuming to find out. So any pointers to basic basic stuff? - a good reference?
